GCDA Company is for dedicated dancers ready for advanced training, teamwork, artistry, competitions, conventions, and a higher level of accountability.

2025–2026 Recognition

GCDA's company dancers had a defining season, earning studio awards, choreography recognition, overall wins, scholarships, and judges awards.

  • Best Elite Studio – VIP Dance Montgomery
  • Top Elite Studio – Platinum Dance Mobile
  • Best Choreography – Ages 11 & Under and Ages 12 & Up
  • Multiple 1st Overall Group Wins across age divisions
  • Multiple 1st Overall duet/trio and soloist wins
  • Full, national, and specialty scholarships across conventions

2026–2027 Commitments

  • Juniors/Pre-Teen/Teen/Seniors ages 8–18 commit to 3 days per week and 9.75+ hours.
  • Mandatory training includes 2 ballet classes, company rehearsal, hip hop, modern, jazz, tap, strength/performance, and acro/gym.
  • Company season runs June 2026 – May 2027.
  • Company dancers attend 4 mandatory competitions, at least 1 convention, and Alabama Dance Festival.
  • Attendance policy allows 6 total absences for the full year across class and rehearsal time.

Company Information & Expectations

Company dancers are selected for a focused training environment built around artistry, accountability, and teamwork.

Company dancers and parents represent GCDA in class, at conventions, at competitions, online, and in the community.
Dancers are expected to be coachable, prepared, respectful, and open to feedback from teachers and choreographers.
Families should communicate outside activities and scheduling conflicts with Mrs. Melissa before committing to overlapping activities.
Creative and technical decisions for choreography, placement, costuming, and performance planning are made by GCDA staff and choreographers.

Training Notes

  • Summer requirements include Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday training, with placement determined by teacher and resident-teacher recommendations.
  • Dancers ages 8+ are required to participate in Destro Experience Choreography.
  • Fall requirements include three training days during the week, plus scheduled weekend rehearsals announced in advance.
  • Mandatory season commitments include Fall Showcase, Spanish Fort Christmas Parade, Joffrey auditions, Spring Recital, and any Fall/Winter workshops or auditions.

Destro Experience Choreography

The Destro Experience is GCDA's in-studio intensive and choreography experience for company dancers. GCDA uses this time to focus deeply on technique, artistry, rehearsal process, and company growth.

Destro faculty includes Destini Rogers, Jonnesha Hawkins-Minter, Jarred Bosch, Blake Krapels.
